RDF Quarterly Impact Report

During the first quarter 2016, RDF systems supported low-income governments to record themselves US$ 2.6 million in government revenues. The result consisted of government revenues from mining, forestry and property tax to the governments of Sierra Leone, Liberia, Malawi, Ghana and Mali.

This impact result follows a much lower overall trend than in 2013-2014 due to the collapse in iron ore prices and subsequent reduced royalty payments.

Total cumulative revenues recorded in RDF systems deployed in government institutions are now US$ 184.7 million. 

All revenues for Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali and Malawi are made public through the online repository portals. The Mali portal was launched by the Government of Mali in November, and the Government of Liberia launched their portal in December. The Online Repository portals has alltogether over 3,000 registered users, of which over 65% are mining companies and investors. A similar system will soon be launched in Ghana.

The goal of RDF is to help low-income governments mobilize over US$ 1 billion. RDF has already exceeded its programme target of US$ 100 million cumulative revenues for the Government of Sierra Leone, a country that RDF has supported since its start in 2009.
